WHAT IS TEIMO?
TEIMO: Teacher Education across Europe – Innovative Mobility Opportunities
TEIMO is a European+ project dedicated to developing and validating an inclusive, cutting-edge Blended Intensive Program (BIP) for use in teacher education and related fields. The project focuses on teacher education because of the pivotal role teachers play in shaping future generations and the evolving educational landscape.
In today’s increasingly diverse and interconnected world, intercultural competence is essential. Teachers must be equipped to navigate and embrace cultural diversity in their classrooms. However, mobility opportunities for teacher education remain limited, often constrained by strict national regulations.
TEIMO seeks to address these challenges by:
Designing inclusive, international virtual and on-site components that promote collaborative learning and cross-cultural engagement through blended mobility formats, such as BIPs.
Developing practical logistical guidelines to support the smooth planning and implementation of BIPs.
Testing and validating the virtual and physical components through a comprehensive pilot BIP focused on teacher education.
Sharing the outcomes in the form of accessible, user-friendly blueprints to support replication and broader use.
Through these efforts, TEIMO aims to transform teacher education by making international mobility more inclusive, practical, and impactful.
WHEN WAS THE KICK-OFF MEETING?
The first Project meeting was held online on 24 October 2024. The agenda of the meeting included: project description, update on project management, financial issues, work packages - 1 through 5 and dissemination.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST ACTIVITY OF THE PROJECT?
The University of Helsinki hosted the 2025 Blended Intensive Program (BIP), the third edition of the event, with 56 students and over 20 staff participating. The program included three virtual meetings and an intensive week in Helsinki (March 17–21), focusing on "Teacher Education in an International Perspective: Education in a Digital World." Participants came from eight international universities. The virtual sessions in February–March prepared students through assignments and discussions on AI in education and media literacy. The event also supported the TEIMO project as a benchmark for future BIP organization.
WHEN WAS THE FIRST FACE TO FACE PARTNERS MEETING?
The meeting was held on 9 May 2025 in Brussels, Belgium and it was hosted by KU Leuven University. All partner countries were represented in the meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity for all the partners to get together and discuss the TEIMO-related matters in person.
The partners discussed the current state of the Project including the updates on Work Packages, dissemination plan as well as BIP 2026 planning.
Sander from Saxion University updated the participants on the agenda of the meeting as as well as the Project management Work package (WP1). Dina from OsloMet shared the latest about the Quality Assurance Work package (WP2) by informing the participants on the surveys conducted thus far. Heidi from Helsinki (WP3) shared her reflections on the BIP event they organized and made implications for the next BIP that will take place in Cologne, Germany. Maria from University of Cologne (WP4) shared updates about their ongoing preparations and planning for the upcoming BIP. Regarding WP5, Mieke from KU Leuven led the discussion on the template for “the Best Practice BIPs”.
